Paid sockeye broodstock collection work available
« on: July 25, 2010, 03:50:02 PM »

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Inch Creek Hatchery) is in the process of putting together a crew for the Upper Pitt River sockeye egg and milt takes. These are paid positions and the term of contract is approximately two weeks. The program starts in the last couple of days in August and runs through to mid September, dates to be determined.

The work is fairly physically demanding. It involves river seining, adult salmon handling and sorting, and egg takes in the field. Days are long hours and usually work straight through with maybe one or two days off during the duration of the contract.

If you have prior volunteer experience in broodstock capturing and egg takes, and are keen on looking for some short term fisheries work, then please send your resume by email to James.Weger@dfo-mpo.gc.ca.
