What does 'No dyke access' mean?
« on: September 24, 2010, 03:42:01 PM »

Got down to the canal at Abbotsford side and noticed 'No dyke access' signs everywhere.

What does it mean? no fishing allowed?

Can they ( construction company )do that?

These are new signs right on the dyke with a metal barrier across.

To me, it seemed to indicate, 'no walking' through here.

In my eyes
Barriers with signs saying no access are for vehicles
Gates with signs saying no public access are for people

It was closed due to garbage dumping and too much damage done to the berms by all terrain vehicles.

I notice once again a lot of garbage being dumped by fishers and others on the Chillwack side of the Canal area. Thanks goodness the CVRCS deals with it 3 times a year or this side would be closed too.

A good idea for FWR members to do some cleanup when you are there and other parts of any river system or more access will be lost.

We tried to tell people the Abby side would close unless things did not improve 4 years ago but many did not believe us, I guess they do now but its too late now.
