Coho Salmon
« on: November 12, 2010, 08:28:09 PM »

The other day, I was walking by Stave River and noticed people fishing for a some coho salmon, some jacks, some normal.
I actually saw a lot of people land them, using roe.
So i thought, "This must be easy!" and took out MY rod. I was using a spinner.
But i don't know what i was doing wrong, the coho wouldn't go anywhere near my spinner.
And watching the others ccatching coho with roe just made me more jealous...
A lot of people also cought jacks, too.

What am i doing wrong??

There were lots of coho in the Stave this year but I found them very reluctant to bite. It may be due to the super clear water  ???

At that particular instance, most likely those fish were into roe, especially they were jacks, but that does not mean roe always outperforms lures like spinners and spoons.

I've float fished with roe at times without success, only to be outfished by a friend who made four casts and landed three coho with a spoon.

Then again, I get outfished a lot, so that doesn't say much... :-\
