fishfinder for a kayak

i would like to get a fish finder for a reasonable price that i can put on my kayak. i am wondering what will work.

I have a suction cup kind and it works ok :-\ sometimes it falls off when I paddle fast in the salt but the more I think about it I could probably just mount it higher so it is just in the water or hard mount it instead. But overall it has worked and I have not really been bothered to fix my issuies with it and it is easy to transfer from one to another easily for the most part. I think I paid $150 and is eagle I think.

You may want to ask this question on a kayak fishing forum like        http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/   as it may depend on the kind of yak you have and they will probably know better. Lots of other good info too.

I recently bought the humminbird 343c (portable) $300.  The color view finder is easy to read on bright days and the unit works well.  I like that I can just grab the unit and take it with me when I'm done for the day or need to leave the kayak unattended.  The transducer suctions onto the bottom of the kayak and does add a bit of drag.  (may be an issue with fast trolling and mine has not fallen off yet)  You can get a "through hull mount but it does not come standard and so your forced to pay an additional $100 right off the bat.

The question/issue I have is that the bottom of my Hobie kayak is not perfectly horizontal so my suction cup transducer is tilted slightly to the right.  My sonar images are showing more of what is going on off to the right of my kayak.  I'm not sure if this is of concern.  Are my depth readings and structure images going to be greatly distorted/inaccurate or will I still have a good idea of what's going on below?  Should I spend the $100 on the through hull mount? 

I'd appreciate any advise or comments
