I need some GOOD hip waders?
« on: November 25, 2010, 09:26:29 PM »

Not the crap from WM or CT, but real ones. Any idea where cause I've looked all over and $200 plus a pair seems a little high for big rubber boots.

Dan Bailey sells a hip wader, but hip waders are deathtraps if they fill with water.  Have a look at waterproof breathable pants, like Simms Headwater or G3 pants.

Try springbrook, I'd rate them as good.

Hip waders are dangerous. They should be used near shallow calm water or are good for messing around launching a boat...getting in and out of boats, etc.

It deters alot of anglers from tempting fate by wading too far out. I've seen fishermen standing literally up to their chest wearing chest waders. One false step and you're swept away.

I'm looking for some for a friend that does fly in fishing and hunting from a float plane. They need to be fairly tough. Here's a pic of his single otter- hr needs to wade out to the pontoon to tie it up.

are there any twigs/branches in the water where he gets off the plane? if it's just water, a regular pair of hippies from army & navy should be alright... if there's things in the water that might cut through, I'd go with the river ratz. neoprene is pretty tough...
