If you don't want to go all the way to Chilliwack, you can also try Russ in Surrey.

More like someone who could give me some advice on component choices, where to get them, etc.

But thanks for assuming I was looking for a free class!!  ;D

West Coast Fishing Tackle on East Hastings Street stocks some basic components and will definitely give you advice if needed. For a more comprehensive choice try Rodbuilder Supplies on the Island

Sea Run fly and tackle in Coquitlam usually has lots of rod building components in stock. You can also find some pretty decent rod building kits on the internet.

Feel free to drop me an email and I'll help ya out.  I have built over 15 rods now...I have two sons that betterlove fishing as much as I do!  Have the basic gear - flex coat wrapping station, pac bay epoxy turner, etc, etc.

Components are important parts of the equation too and I have found that Andy Sneddon at Rod Builder supplies has been great: http://rodbuildersupplies.com/

I have yet to find everything I want in one local shop but admittedly I live in NV and have never shopped for components at Searun.

Like I said, Andy has been great to deal with and usually has maybe a 48hr turn around on parts.

If you need any advice or have any questions, drop me an email.
