wondering about the kane valley area. anyone been. heading up next weekend.

It is ice free but there has been winterkill in some of the lakes.

Very sad to say but englishmen was hit. Was a great lake.

Because its so shallow it does happen every few years. Usually they end up stocking lots of catchables in it afterwards.

is there anyone i could contact to get more info on what lakes were killed off. don't really want to fish a lake with no fish.

Nope. Its all word of mouth. Take your chances or fish a popular lake you know wont winterkill.

Almost all small shallow lakes even ones with airators got winterkill to some degree this year it seems.

 For fishing reports in the Merritt area call Fred Watts at Nicola Valley Outdoors on Nicola St in Merritt 250-378-9211. Fred is usually pretty much up to date on the fishing/lake conditions. We still have a ton of snow at the higher elevations so for the higher lakes it's gonna be a while yet.
