Sturgeon Line
« on: May 13, 2011, 10:06:06 PM »

Hey guys, one of my goals this summer between semesters is to catch my first Sturgeon. I have the Reel(Penn 321GT2) and the rod (technium 8 ft) and all the leader, weight hooks, ect... but i haven't had my reel spooled with main line yet...

So my question is what line should i run for Sturgeon fishing from bars on the Fraser out here in Chilliwack( island 22 area mainly). i have heard between 100-150lb braided... i was gonna get 150lb tufline but tonight i got 300 yards of SpiderWire Stealth Braid in 100lb test for $12... so ya, i was told $56 to spool my reel with 150lb... so ya, is this Spiderwire line suffiecient to shore fish for Sturgeon?

Thanks guys!

No issues with that line. Especially at that price. It does tend to be a bit stiff because of the coating on the line however, will definitely do the job for you.

The line should be good.

The coated braid has less resistance (thinner usually) so you'll need less weight to hold your rig on the bottom.
