Tidal Fraser River, August 30th 2011
« on: August 30, 2011, 09:20:54 PM »

Met up with my sister around 7pm tonight for a late evening trip to the Tidal Fraser.  We scouted some new locations and found some great shoreline to fish.  Didn't see anything move in the hour we were there, but I did get one VERY distinct bite towards 8pm before we packed it up in the failing light and headed home.   I will definitely be heading back to this spot as the season progresses... hopefully will find some fish there too!

Vis was crap.  Maybe 8" or so?

That said, despite no fish and poor conditions, it was nice to spend some time with my sister.  I find as I get older we see each other a lot less than we used to.  Tonight was a very worthwhile fishing trip.  :)

Wife and I cruised the North arm of the Fraser for about an hour last night around 7pm and not a sign...  :(

Saw a few guys trying, but didn't stick around to see if they were successful.  Hopefully it picks up soon... got an itch I can't scratch right now.

Garry Point - August 30th

Went and checked out Garry after work with a couple of friends, but saw nothing.  There was likely about 10 people fishing at the high tide, including three of us fly-fishing.  Strangely, the passersby seemed to gravitate to standing directly behind me.  Me, while I was flycasting.  I continued on, and there were several disgruntled comments, but playground rules baby.  I was there first.  Then, the commies started to roll out and completely blocked us off - one boat came so close I could have poked him with the tip of my 9' fly rod.

Afterwards, a friend and I ventured home and checked out our secret carp spot.  My oh my are they big, and they certainly feed very consistently...a new project has arisen.

Thanks for the report.   From yours and other reports I am hearing about people starting to get bites and the odd one caught.   I will give this a go on Thursday night and report on this thread how its looking - hoping the water clarity will improve somewhat as I am sure that doesn't help.

No problem.  Definitely worth getting out there.  The chances of catching a fish still don't seem to be great, but there are certainly fish moving through and you do have a shot at them if you keep your lure in the water.  :)

Seemed like no fish around @ low tide today where I was.... until  I saw Mr. Snaggerman proceed to catch 4 fish in about 1 hour  :-\

They're out there.  I had a couple of very solid hits, but after no sleep the night before and a full day of work it was very much hard to keep my self in the game.

Sorry about the confusion. I usually merge the reports from the same system and date after awhile just so they can be archived and browsed more easily later on.
