For fishing snobs I guess the ABU is further down in the list.
If you have more money spend it.
But the ABU may not be a hand me down collector item it is a work horse and a good solid reel.
As ones take and fishing regularity changes there are better reels.
Until then the ABU is a good reliable reel.
Care and maintenance (as with any reel) will lend to this.

The swedish made abu's  are still good reels,its the S series made in china that should be avoided.see video below.
