Tidal Fraser River, September 1st 2011
« on: September 01, 2011, 06:30:18 PM »

Went out for a couple hours this afternoon during the incoming tide. First cast I managed to hook and land my first Pink of the season. A buck around 3-4 pounds which will be joining us for dinner. Next couple hours were quite until I managed to hook a larger female around 6 pounds. A guy fishing just down from me also hooked one at the same time. Both of us lost our fish. Packed it in around 5. Risers were not as frequent as the past couple days but the fish that were around seemed more willing to bite. Visibility was still poor but improving at around a foot. Good luck.

Water clarity was definitely a bit better than the last couple of days, good enough for some consistent fishing if there were fish going by. This was probably due to the absence of heavy boat traffic like we saw two evening ago right after the commercial opening.

I fished beside Fish Assassin for a couple of hours today, started at 5:30pm. There wasn't too much happening until I arrived apparently. After seeing some rolls and a couple of fish hooked and lost while we were chatting, I took the rod out for a go. Within a few casts I had a couple of misses, then a solid hook-up resulted in a pretty big male.

After that, they stopped going by. There weren't as many fish as a couple of days ago.

If water stays the way it is or improves gradually, it should make some good fishing in the upcoming long weekend.

Nice to see they are back.   I was out in New west last night - lots showed up about 1 hour before peak tide.   I was throwing everything I had at them and felt a few taps but no hook ups.   There were about 10 other fishermen nearby and I saw nothing for them either.

Water clarity was not great but I would have expected somebody to get into one in spite of that - quite surprising.

I was out in the lower fraser main river last night from 7-8pm.  Mostly scouting, but after seeing a couple guys get one, I threw for 30 minutes.  Nada for me.

Lots jumping but way out towards the middle of the river.  A fewer in close.  Visibility where I was, under 1 ft.
