I think he started the vid after he hooked the fish and it was ready to be landed.  That run is 4-6+ feet deep in most of the run.

either you fish their style or you are committing a sin.   ???
flossing is snagging...no two ways around it...so in most peoples books its pretty lame ESPECIALLY for fisheries where the fish take bait and don't need to be flossed.

If you look at the end of the video, the eyes have that glazed over straight stare of a dead fish, so it looks like he indeed kept it. Still, it was kind of painful to watch

I think he overestimated the weight of that fish by quite a bit. ~8 lbs is probably more accurate

Yeah I noticed that, and was praying that he did as he also had his fingers all up in the gills and was shaking it around. I just wanted to reiterate that in case he said he released it, which would have lead to a most definate mortality.

Either way - seeing a fish gasping like that, flopping about makes me sick. Either leave it in the water and take a quick porn pic, or bonk the poor bugger right away.

The video should be mandatory in every fishing course to teach beginner anglers a number of things they SHOULD NOT do when they catch a fish.

Oh dear, that was tough to watch.  Rahmanjoy, I really appreciate you wanting to share your catch, but hopefully you can take some positive feedback from everyone's comments and make some changes for next time you go fishing!

1) If indeed you were bottombouncing with a long leader, you likely "snagged" the fish - ie. it didn't bite.  Read some of Rodney's posts on shortfloating to avoid this in the future.
2) When you land a fish, don't drag it up onto the beach until you're sure it's allowed to be kept and ONLY if you plan on keeping it.
3) If you DO decide to keep a fish, dispatch (kill) it immediately. Not only is this more humane, but it allows you to also bleed the fish, making for a better product to eat.

There is TONS of good information on improving your fishing practices here on this website.  Happy reading!

Maybe so, but if his tape measurements were correct the estimated weight of that fish would be in the range of 12+ pounds.  Besides, does it really matter if he overestimated it's weight?  We're fisherman, exagerating is just what we do!  :)

When will anybody learn not to bother posting a video because you are going to get bashed.

Its just a fish man, let it be.

Ethics are ethics, it takes time to learn the skills to be a 10 % er. How about when you see somebody doing something not quite correct, offer some advice, if they will listen. I do it all the time.

I know when I am going fishing it is to have fun, drink a beer, not deal with the bs politics surrounding it.

As long as the fisheries or DFO continue to mismanage our fishery, the crap will still continue. Don't fry the small fish, go after the big one, ha good luck. Change the rules and how about a few more officers around to enforce it.  Selective fishery my my friend.

Stop putting on bait bans and then seining for an entire week after, wtf!

I am done I could continue but hey somebody will bash me, hahahahha, love the interweb.

I've got to agree with mikeyman.  There are so many major issues surrounding the fisheries that need to be addressed.  While, I hate seeing how this Spring was treated, maybe some constructive comments will help make sure it doesn't happen again (I doubt the bashing will be taken well).  It's no different then how I get extremely tired of spending a few hours fishing at some of my favourite spots and the only thing I take home is a bag of other peoples garbage!  The reality is that while it drives me crazy and I want it to stop there are much bigger polluters of our rivers and lakes out there.  I often wonder how much more effective groups of people could be if the in-fighting and bashing was removed?  If we fix the big issues there will be lots of time to focus on the smaller ones.  My 2cents.

thanks for letting me know your personal opinion.
I still can't be 100% sure he flossed that fish.  no need to rant.
