Went to see what all the fuss was about. Should have gone minnow fishing at the duckpond instead.
Although some fish were seen in the system I couldn't get any to bite. I have never seen this many people there before - the easier access spots were a gong show on both sides of the river. Lots of people using laughable gear and dads and sons fishing in the most ridiculous of places. Just get in everyone's way. Snagging was definitely the preferred method by most, though even these guys didn't do well. It doesn't make sense to me - bait is the only thing those fish will take pretty much and the bait ban only encourages other stupid my friend behavior like intentionally snagging fish while aiming for the mouth...guys i watched waited till fish were in front of them then casted and did the famous "vedder pullback". disgusting.
Water level dropped like crazy, 1.5 feet now, native weir is still in tact therefore looks like there wont be many fresh fish entering until another rainfall.
