I was reading the IN-SEASON CHANGES web site

It says for Fraser river, from the CPR Bridge at Mission to the Highway #1 bridge at Hope

coho, Sep 8 - Oct 10, 2011, daylight hours only, No fishing for coho.
Chinook, Sep 8 - Oct 10, 2011, daylight hours only, 4 per day, only one of which may exceed 62 cm.
Chum, Sep 8 - Oct 10, 2011, daylight hours only, 2 per day

Today is Oct 12th, what's rule we need to follow? Does it mean chum is closed?

Called DFO office and the lady says the web site should be update soon. but suggested not catch anything until it is updated.

Just want to understand the reg better.

You cannot understand the regulations better if they are not there. That information should have been updated prior to the changes on October 11th so it is available for anglers who wish to fish after the coho salmon fishing closure. This is the second or third time that it has happened. I will bring it up next week at the meeting because it's not acceptable. We expect more reliability when it comes to public service.

Anyway, although it is not listed, I believe the current daily quotas are two hatchery marked coho salmon, two chum salmon, four chinook salmon with only one over 62cm long, four pink salmon.

A lot of times fishery notices overlap each other and a lot of information is not updated in the permanent regulation page. The communication department needs to get their act together.

Here is the daily quota of chum salmon in the non-tidal portion of Fraser River until December 31st:

It is very confusing. the lady who answered the phone even went away to ask someone in the office, but came back with something very ambiguous. I don't know how they are going to enforce it when they are not clear themselves.

How can DFO expect the public to abide by the rules and regulations when they themselves can't get their act together ?

I agree, its always been a pet peeve of mine.  IMO the website is poorly designed and finding the current regs for a particular river is not easy especially for novice anglers.  People just give up and try to find out from second hand info on the river which shouldn't be the way to do it.  Most of the info that people get is on-line these days.  They need to totally re-vamp the whole site.  Offer the info on-line in many different languages.  They could even require people to take a quick fish id test before they are allowed to print out their license.  Rodney are you available to help them out?

Ok, so I read through the entire regulations pamphlet to find catch limits on different species, but had to go to a different website to get the answer.  One would think that would all be in the same literature, right?

So, my understanding for the Vedder/Chilliwack is 4 fish per day; only 1 may be an adult chinook over 62cm, 1 may be a chum over 30cm, the rest can comprimise of hatchery coho over 25cm, or juvenille chinook.  Just like it has been in the past. 

Just wanting to confirm this with other people to make sure I'm understanding the regs correctly.  Am I understanding this correctly?
