haha, you are right.I do lots fly fishing but some time I like to switch back n forth between float n fly. double joyment  ;D

Yesterday, I made my last coho trip this season out to the Vedder and also wanted to try out what you suggested. ;D
Man was I in for a disappointment. I know fishing was slowing down in the past several days on the lower river, but yesterday since first light on, I did not have a single take down which looked like one from a fresh run coho. So I had no chance to try out what you suggested. Gonna have to wait until next season. :(
Fresh run coho fishing on the lower river looks pretty much dead unless we have a run of big northern cohos comming up later.
Saw only one coho landed on the lower river yesterday.
All the beaks below Keith Wilson Bridge moved up to Tamahi bouder rapids to practice their art of white water flossing. Saw two dozen strong yesterday. ::)
Lots of coloured fish up river ready to spawn.
I am going to pack in my rods and wait for December steelhead season. :)

Still lots of fish near Tamahi Bridge area. ;D
Some are chrome and some are just turning a little off colour to light pinkish silver.
Most ones flossed by the big crowd at the boulder rapids area were of latter colour.

well since i had no interest in flossing coho I stayed lower end. slow but clean fish. maybe 12 fish caught in 6 hours amongst 20 fishermen. Lost one coho due to an IDIOT who did not understand "FISH ON". Landed 2 ultra clean chum/released. Took home a jack for dinner. The "easy" fishing is over in my opinion on the cheddar.

Rod H was out today with Nina, curious if he agrees about easy fishing being over.

some pics i took. very foggy in the dawn. yeah yeah, bw. you ever try to take pics of the fog lol.

Looks like I missed the fresh fish moving up the river on that day. I fished the canal area from first light to 9 am and again from 3 to 5 pm when I saw only one fish landed.
Time between was spent looking at the gong show at Tamahi and checking out some of the upper river areas in prep for December without doing any real fishing. Nice pics!

Yap with the past few days temp drop and morning frost where I live, it's beginning to feel like steelhead season.   :D
