Chilliwack River, January 6th 2012
« on: January 06, 2012, 03:47:51 PM »

I didn't fish today but went for a walk along the dyke.  A couple recently moved here from the Prairies was out for the first time steelheading.  I told them to try the run just below where I was standing.  Behold he hooked and landed a 10 lb plus chrome steelie. What a beaut.

It was a Wild doe.  Couldn't believe that he hooked and landed it.  The older gentleman's wife had a fold up trout net that she was trying to use to net the fish.  That wasn't working for her at all.  First time fishing steelies for them.  Five minutes fishing and "wham" got her on the beach. They looked quite shocked when they got it up to the beach and saw how perfectly chrome she was. Welcome to Chilliwack.
I know of guys that have been fishing for 4 years and haven't landed one yet.  Luck of the draw some times.  The river is in beautiful shape!!

Hey Chris, I was talking to you below Peach Rd. yesterday about my Dad Bill Cotton. Including the fish Nick killed where we were talking I saw a total of 11 fish caught between Peach and Lickman. Heard about three more and spoke to a guy in the parking lot at Peach who was carrying a buck about 18 lbs.  Like you, my float never took a dip all day. Thanks for letting me in on your spot.   Bill jr.

Good to see you again too Bill, not sure why we did not get any yesterday  :( but I lost 2 so far today  ::), will go back out shortly and try and redeem myself. Only saw one other fish lost this AM.

Awh, how sweet it is to live 5 minutes from the river....to fish whenever and where ever you want... talk about envy. (at least during steelie season)  ;)

I was unhappy I lost two this AM but you have it right, just being out there is the important thing. Today was certainly a wonderful day weather wise. Our turn will come again, I think mine will tomorrow  ;D  ;D as I can get out for a hour or so before church.
