Chilliwack River, January 26th 2012

Not much to report as nothing happened for me!!!

Fished Bergman and the wind was just insane...could not drift properly.

Ended up at the canal with nothing to show either. I spoke to a few guys and nada....

The water was a murky green with maybe a foot of visibility close to shore.

I threw roe, shrimp, roe bag and you name it....

Went out around 12:30 after coffee, Lew stopping by while I was having my coffee to report on his fish he landed mid morning so that got me going. ;D

I found conditions improved throughout the afternoon to at least 2 feet or more by 5 o'clock. It certainly was a very pleasant afternoon again, especially when the wind died down.

I heard of 5 fish taken and I had a chance too but the fish was on only briefly as it got off as it swirled to the top when I set the hook and got rid of the hook. On the next cast it took the float down again (unless another fish) but I missed it completely but was not offered another opportunity.

Not a lot of pressure in the area I was in.

Arrived upper river around 1:00 pm. Had a chat with an old friend for a while. Then started fishing. 10 minutes later, landed my first hatchery this year. Decided to let it go because I didn't want to spend 3 hrs on driving but only 10 mins on fishing :'( That's the pain of living in Richmond.

Anyway, continued after this. Had another fish on for about 5 mins. That was a big fight but lost it near shore.

Fished until dark without any more success.

This is my 2nd year of steelhead fishing. Last season, I totally had 6 fish on and landed 5. This year, so far I had 8 fish on hook but only landed 3...But that's ok, even one fish can keep me excited for a month...
