Yes, if you can cast it any distance and not birdsnest it.

I use an old Diawa 275 moocher, you can find them used for cheap. you don't need anything fancy.

grip the rod above the reel with your thumb, index and middle finger, then rest the other two fingers on the spool.
same as a center pin

I two hand it with my right hand on the reel. Full body swing/fling over the shoulder. Burns the hand (with plastic reel) but works. I think there is a video on here somewhere of Chris or Nick casting one.
