Thompson River, August 1st 2012

Stopped at Martel Bar.  Hucked a fly out there for a little while.  Saw a beauty fish roll.  Either a jack spring or a 4 or 5 pound rainbow.  Old guy camped with his wife says he hadn't seen many salmon.  He was fly fishing, but he had his trailer there and looked like he had been there for a while.  The water is still pumping very strong through there.  WOW.

Just got back, fishing was good. Hooked 8 yesterday morning on grasshoppers. Only landed 4 tho. Not counting the little 10 inchers. Missed probably double that. Hooked one fish 4 times before it took the dry down its thoart. Fish were from 8-21 inches with one that i missed which was bigger. It came back the next cast and snapped me off, probably one of the bigger trout Ive hooked. In 2 weeks that salmon fishing should be very good. Saw a dead bear floating down river too  ???

Just up from Goldpan, waked and fished a 3 km stretch a few times. On particular run seemed to produce a lot of takes.
