Squamish River, October 25th 2012
« on: October 26, 2012, 10:35:59 PM »

went up to Squamish with the spey gear
Weather was great for this time of year, there were two eagles play fighting in mid air, no sound of traffic, and a smell of fresh air
lots of fish moving up river, but no matter what fly i tried they were not interested
few more guys turned up later in the day
I did not see anyone hook a fish
this is my third trip in a short time but I did not see anything hooked any day
but hey thats fishing ;)

Sure is nice to see a beautiful landscape with a lovely flowing river close by and not a person in sight. Like the man said, "Now that's something you don't see everyday." Thanks for the report Britguy !!!  :)

Wow, looks picture perfect for sure ! If you want to see how fast this river can change go to Youtube and search  Squamish River B.C. Flood. A friend of a friend shot this video earlier this month.

I rather liked to see some fishermen there, some socializing, and some fish caught.

when I left there were about at least 8 other fishermen on that stretch, some socializing, but no fish being caught

Thats the beauty of that place, no crowding, no fence posting, and very friendly fishermen, well worth the drive for me :)

The Squamish is a little harder to fish, I find, compared to the Cheakamus. Fishermen's Park (further upstream, I assume the pic is downriver from the Mamquam) has been busy and I have seen fish caught on fly, spinners and wool over the last days. I was on the lower Cheakamus yesterday and had one of the better days in the past years. +10 fish hooked and 6 landed, nice big & fresh chum. No luck for me with cohos. Saw coho, buddy of mine lost a coho on the fly.

Thanks for the report Britguy!
I've been dying to get out and do some fishing and there is always work or to-do-list that seems to be an obstacle.  But reading these reports sort of makes up for not being out there at the river, specially the gorgeous one like your photo.
More photos of the scenery should be included in other reports (besides the close-up of the fish) IMHO. :)

Cheers Mate!
