Well, me and a good bud went out to the flow today for the last time for coho. Did not see a person out there for the entire time fishing which we fished for about 6 hours and it felt like the river was ours . Morning started off well for my friend as he landed 5 wild coho which one was pushing 12lbs easy. My coho bite turned on for me as I switched to flouro after battling chum after chum. Second cast after retieing, float rockets down and flashes of silver, a nice change after seeing yellow chums. I get a solid hook set battled it for a few minutes and get it to shore. My buddy noticed that it had a very small adipose so before beaching it I got in the water and ran my finger on the fin. Misclip. Dragged it to shore. gorgeous 7lb hatchery doe, chrome as can be . No more hatchery coho to the beach. Battled 4 more wild coho, one was a chrome bar about 6 lbs and one was a big buck about 12lbs, tomato red. I hooked many more and lost them. I hooked something today and battled it for about 15 seconds, it was about 5 lbs and much much more chrome then any coho I have seen this year, and it popped me off faster than I can say " steelhead".  But you guys wont beleive me any ways  .

Great day out there and think ill go check out some rivers north of the fraser until steel.

sounds like a good day indeed! congrats on your catch! wish my fishing was going that well but my last trip to the vedder only resulted in 2 coho and a few chums, saw 1 guy get a 8-9lb chromer that he insisted was a steelhead but i helped him land it and was a very chrome wild coho, still a wee bit early for steel i think...

My earliest Steel on the Vedder was the first week of November (about 15 years ago)...they are there....but if you get one it is a huge suprise....as the numbers would be very small.

My earliest steelhead was dec 4th of last year. never quit fishing for them through nov and i dialed into a nice holding hole.

Tis the season for  checking out all the ol' steelhead spots.

...hmmmmm... I'd say it slows a bit for a month or two, but it is still very possible to get into fish.
