« on: February 18, 2013, 11:45:58 PM »

Been up there a couple times in the last few Weeks.does anyone know what is going on at the lake.a week or2 ago there was what looked like chunks of white styrofoam and this coat of oil on top of the water.was there again today only for hour or 2 and the oil on top of water is back.it even changes the color of my main line from clear to an oily grey.but did manage to catch 2 fishes.does anyone knee this oil is? Where is it from? What can I do about this to help?

Phone Metro Vancouver at 604-520-6442 to report your concerns and see if they have an answer since they manage Belcarra Regional Park, which includes Sasamat Lake.

They got back really quick to me.the oil film on top of lake is natural, its been tested.they also say this oily film on top happens a few times a year.as for the styrofoam the root of the problem was otters, they digging by the camp grounds pool area where there is a floating dock which they tried to make a home in.

Thanks for looking into this, did they say what causes the natural oily film?
