Travelin' to Region 8... or 3...
« on: March 19, 2013, 10:11:19 PM »

Hi all, I just wanted to get some opinions on fishing Region 8, near Oliver/Osoyoos, versus Region 3, Kamloops/Merrit, in late MAY.

Emphasis on the month of May.  It would be cool to camp somewhere a bit warmer than Kamloops, but only if the fish are active  :P

I hear there's decent bass fishing but have never gone after them.

Is Region 8 worth the trip?

Oh, and I have an 11ft inflatable with a 5 horse motor.

I don't think temperature should be an issue in Kamloops by late May  ??? I've spent plenty of time up there at that time of year and the weather is usually quite pleasant. Last years interior trip featured 25 degree weather most days...

Back to the other part of your question, your timing is PERFECT for stillwater trout fishing. Do a quick search on chronimid fishing and you should come up with all the info you'll need.

--If you're looking for May 24 Bass in Osoyoos... book your campsite now some are full already.. Its a traditional Bass converge. It seems wind is also a tradition on that weekend.

Osoyoos has very good bass fishing in may. Rip those big ones off the beds.

I'd like to give Bass fishing a go, never done it before.  Also, got me a small inflatable this year and a 5 horse motor.

Do you guys think it's worth spending the cash on a fish finder?  If it was the difference in going from 4 fish a day to 20 C&R for the day, I think it would be an obvious choice.

I know nothing about bass fishing. That being said I once heard a great saying.
"You may find structure without bass, but you will never find bass without structure".
I dont think you need a fish finder for bass, unless youre looking for open water structure to fish. That being said I know Osoyoos has loads of man made and natural structure.

Sweet.

Has anyone ever ventured to Christina Lake's BOAT ACCESS ONLY campgrounds.  This is near Grand Forks.  Sounds cool.
