I would not recommend a SOT kayak for the fast waters of the Vedder. I fish them in lakes. But I know they can be fished in moderately choppy waters too.

Is SOT kayak safe for drfiting rivers? like Vedder or big T?

--I wholesale SOT freedom hawk kayaks .... the are not made for white water.
--Some SOT can be used in white water but the main issue is stability in the seat.. even with foot rest you do not have the control you do in a sit in kayak.
--Similarily with a canoe when kneeling you have lateral control of the boat which is important.
--The sot even though not an issue to get water in with low profile you would often dip the bow which could flip you forward or side with low freeboard could catch and flip you.

The request is from 2006. My guess is he's either purchased one or given up.
