Bass fishing with cabin stay in BC?
« on: May 24, 2013, 10:22:25 AM »

Hey guys, anybody know of any good bass fishing lakes where there are also cabin rentals within a few hours drive from Vancouver?  I know there's plenty on the Island, but I don't feel like paying for those insane ferry fares.  Thanks in advance!

Hey HKSR.

I have never Bass fished in BC yet but I recently rented a cabin for late July on Vaseux Lake and from what I understand it a is a good Bass lake.It also has bows and some other species. Located 15 min south of Penticton in the Okanagan Falls area.

There are also Bass in Osoyoos.
cheers.

Hey Rhino, thanks for the response.  I'm actually heading out to Okanagan Falls in early August, so I was hoping for a different location.  Are there any bass spots heading up towards Whistler?  Or heading out towards Hope or Harrison Hot Springs?

Vaseux, Skaha, Osoyoos Lakes are the three lakes you'd want to try for bass fishing if holidaying in Okanagan.

Locally, there are a few spots in the Fraser Valley (between Pitt meadows and Mission) where you can find bass, but these are just for day trips, not exactly holiday destinations.

We usually hit St Mary Lake on Salt Spring Island, staying at Lakeside Gardens Resort, which is basically right at the edge of the lake. Very convenient for fishing and really a great holiday spot for families, but yes, the ferry cost is a bit too much.

Thanks Rodney.  Yeah, we typically goto the Fraser Valley for our bass fishing outings.  I watched your video at St Marys Lake, and we'll definitely head out that way sometime, but I was hoping there'd be a place that doesn't cost $200+ just to get there ;)  The only bass locations I've heard of are in the LML/Fraser Valley, Okanagan/Kootenays, and Gulf/Vancouver Island.  Nothing heading North or between Vancouver and the Okanagan/Kootenays?

You're reading it wrong and I'm too far gone to lead you by the hand to the correct fare-do a search on Through Fare Tsawwwassen-Fulford it's a good deal cheaper than what you've found ditto the return fare.
