"Fifer"
« on: June 12, 2013, 05:58:08 PM »

Is anyone familiar with "fifer" built rods from Burnaby? This is from years ago.
Just curious if anyone has info on them or remembers the name.
I ask only because I dug out my grandpas old mooching rod he had built for him and it reads "fifer, Burnaby bc" above my grandpas name.
Wouldn't mind reeling in a salmon for my gramps on this rod before hanging it up on the mantle.

Yeah, I have a steelhead rod hand made for me by Fifer. I met him in 1975 in a shop on Main Street. It was a high quality rod in those days and he had my name painted on it where the rod meets the cork. I loved the rod and used and abused it over several years but it does seem heavy now. I still have the ambassadeur reel that it was paired with at the time. Still works fine.
Thanks for mentioning it, brought Back some really good memories of Steelhead fishing on the Vedder in the early days.
