Now what ?
Some years ago had some cleaning contracts ( some big ones "railway, golf course, mall, car dealership...) then went over totally doing just floor sealing & waxing for about 9 yrs.
Other day was cleaning one of our storage sheds & in the corner was about 10 dif. bottles of cleaning chemicals. ( for toilets, rust remover, some boxes filled with 5% left over wax ; these wax boxes have a plastic bag liner inside)
Richmond Recyle did take some of my gardening chemicals but nothing when it comes to the left over cleaning & floor chemicals.
As these bottles have been opened already & been in storage for some time ,no janitor company would be interested to take & use them.
Surely I do not want to dump the stuff in the sink.
Anyone have any ideas where these chemicals can be brought to
Live in Richmond as yous know thus any place nearby would be a bonus.
Trying to protect the environment.
In fact there should be a law that office floors / schools/ gov buildings should have non waxable floors.
When they redo a floor they scrub it with a floor machine with stripper chem & then either wet vac it up " or wet mop up the old sealer/wax" & basically the stripper chem. old sealer & wax then gets dumped into a toilet or janitor sink & it goes into the ocean.
Nightly floors all over BC are being redone by floor wax crews. Thus so much "crap" is being flushed into our waterways.
Janitor co like to charge big bucks for getting a building or some mall nice waxed floor.
Janitor supply co make big $$$$ selling stripper, floor soap, sealer & wax to janitor companies.
Another method floor wax co use is a high speed machine. The floor pad turns so fast that it creates a heat fiction on the surface of the wax. It will literally burn a thin dirty top layer off the top & then leave a shiny surface.
But the operator of a high speed will always wear a mask. Why ?
Because as the pad turns so quickly & the fiction creates a heat & burns & shines the floor micro wax dust goes flying into the air. Ya just do not want to breath that stuff into your lungs.
In fact only a short time ago a drug store near closing time had some guy operating a high speed floor machine so I quickly got what I needed & got out of that store.
Plus that micro wax dust gets into the air thus on the shelves & all over !!!
( I never operated a high speed machine for the very fact of this micro wax dust being thrown into the air )
Buildings should have non wax floors thus all to maintain it is a good dry & wet mopping.
Anyways hope someone knows where I can get rid of my old chemicals.
