Spoon and spinner building.
« on: August 06, 2013, 11:39:52 AM »

I'd like to get making my own spoons and spinners but to date have been unable to find a good wholesaler online for the various parts needed. Any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat after losing quite a few spoons. Blanks are hard to find found some plain silver spoons on eBay 7$ for 12 but I'd like to just buy bulk silver ones somewhere

If and or when you find some, post on here - I'd take a few and I'm guessing a few other members may - might be able to get a better bulk rate....

If you want cheap spoons, just go into any Good Will store and purchase kitchen spoons for just pennies. Their condition doesn't matter because you will paint them anyway. Cut off the handle and drill a hole at either end. Spinner blades work better if they are very thin and light. The cheaper and lighter the better. Heavy blades don't spin as well. I've made thousands of spinners and spoons and I still have lots of the makings. I seldom use anything but flies today.

I've bought components from Pen Tac and R&B lures. Quality for Pen Tac was top notch, but they are pricy. R&B was good, and a much better deal, but pretty slow in shipping the stuff out.

Hope this helps.

Nope, I'm not kidding. They work great and wobble just as nicely as the $5 fishing spoons. The cheap ones are the best and easiest to adjust and bend for a different movement.

Someone beat me to it.. but for the sake of repetition here it is again. Good prices and easy to deal with other than having to fill out the order by fax.

--fastline tackle will sell components for most of their spinners... in packages of 5 available through any retail dealer that sells fastline.
--bulk larger quantities.. lakeland, worth, hagens.. USA based
--canadian prices from luremakeing dot com are good and they get most of their gear from the above made in USA.

--I believe the original T-Spoon was kitchen spoon and golf T
