Anyone been to the vedder lateley hows she looking any pinks show up yet?

I would imagine its a little early for pinks yet. I drove along side it the other day for a long stretch. Not to many guys out there. But the water levels seems to be how i like them. Gravel bars are showing and pools are forming . It has changed a little bit since last year when i was out for reds 2 weeks ago.

Was out there on sunday. No sign of any pinks, a few others out who had said they ha no luck.

Would you guys think it would be "fishing rod suicide" to use a 6wt on the vedder for the pink and coho runs next month?  I assume for pinks it's fine, but what are your thoughts on the coho season?

Wouldn't shift work give you more varied times to check out the river?  I would see that as being a good thing for fishing.

All I use for coho is a 6wt, works completely fine.

It varies a lot. I look at the test fisheries, and see is going on there. Remember pinks are small so they tend to sqeeze by them as well. When i start seeing some numbers i will head out.
 However, i will be there 1st week of sept if that helps.  I have to take one weekend off to get more jigs tied.

All I use for coho is a 6wt, works completely fine.

It does in frog water, but good luck if you hook into a fish in the double digits and it takes off into the current.

I don't go under 8-weight for any salmon, but each to their own.

Me too. They were making out under the bridge and I told them to get a room.

I use a 7wt, light enough for pinks but enough back bone to bring in average vedder coho. However anything above average I'd going to be a challenge. If say they are super thick by 2 week of September however idk about you guys but I don't target them as they're not great table fair by the time they hit the ved.

I was at the vedder both on sunday and Today. Sunday I was there from 6-10am from the gravel bar down to the canal. Only saw 1 other fisherman, and no hook ups. Standing on the Keith wilson bridge for 20 mins wasn't able to spot ANY fish swimming in the clear water.
Today i was there at 5:30am- 12:00noon  same area, 12 fisherman spotted, and lots of voyeurs from about 9:00am on. 5 fish were spotted from the bridge, 2 of which were dark with radio tags No hook ups seen from the bend by the gravel bar all the way down to the highway. Spent 20 mins on the bridge saw no fish coming up either

The water felt colder this morning which was great!! so perhaps in another week or week and a half we could see some numbers coming through? Go fish BC sent a FB notice out to watch the whonnock gillnet reports, and they suggest when their numbers of pinks reported get into the 100"s the pinks are here basically. I have checked the reports daily and have yet to even see double digits maybe 1-2 days there was on there report? Hope this helps
