West Vancouver Salmon fishing season?
« on: August 26, 2013, 08:07:36 PM »

So I am pretty new to Salmon fishing in salt water and took to West Vancouver (Ambleside Beach)  for the 1st time this year. I caught 2 coho and 1 female Pink salmon, trolling spoons with my 10' boat.  From what I read the the Coho and Pink Salmon season ends as soon as the rain fills the Cap up enough. My question is when does the season around West Vancouver usually start if you're trolling with a boat and do other salmon species stay around that vicinity longer than when the Capilano river fills up?

I have read and heard that the coho will start showing up in mid to late May.. However I have not fished that area that early.

there should be springs arriving now, they will hang around till the river comes up,also some feeder winter springs nov-march.most of the may june coho enter the river if the levels allow, depends on snow melt and rain.so july-sept best for boat fishing.
