Just wondering if anyone has heard of Kimple Boats? They have the 13' on for $3,995 right now.

There's a bunch of ads on Craigslist for these boats - been there for a while.

Hard to tell but I think the 13ft $4K version has no interior.

Ya, my guess is it's bare bones (no Bimini top or anything else included). Seeing as it looks like they come from China by the container load, it's hard to find any additional info on them.

The boat posted here with the pic is $5K.

I would rather just have a 14' Lund SSV and do it out with the extra cash.

Check the thickness of the aluminum, it is "wafer thin".  Not a boat I'd be running around in on the Fraser personally.  Better off with a Lund SSV.

It says 1.6mm. What's regarded as a good thickness for the running on the Fraser?

Most jet boats run a 0.2 to 0.25 (quarter inch) thick hull - that equates to 5mm for 0.20 inches.

Ya, I definitely won't be getting a jet boat. I guess my question should have been, what's an acceptable thickness for a car topper.

I took a look at the 14' Lund SSV and it's showing a thinkness of 0.063" or 1.6mm. I also took at look and Lund and Princecraft Jon boats and they were the same so is the thickness of the Kimple really all that "wafer thin"?

I'm only looking to do some sturgeon and bar fishing around Island 22 boat launch and definitely won't be bombing up and down the river like the jet boats do.

I have seen the Kimple boats online and to be honest, having bought a chinese inflatable and some other chinese direct equipment, I'd worry more about the quality of the aluminum and fittings.  My guess is that the boat is likely thick enough and similar to a car topper but I'd pay close attention to the fittings, the fasteners used, quality of the paint (if any) and rubber etc.  My inflatable has been fine but the paint on the transom certainly was not up to western manufacturer standards.  Come to think of it though the aluminum floor is not showing corrosion and I use it in the gulf islands.

Chinese stuff can be a good value but it likely won't be the same quality.
