I fished the tidal Fraser River portion of New West this afternoon with several different lures for over an hour.

Action was slow and there were three other fishermen near me and I saw only one fisherman catch a small herring sized fish. I didn't go close enough to see the fish and I didn't ask him what it was.

After about an hour, a pink salmon hit my lure, HARD - I shouted, "fish on", and the fishermen beside said, "it's a big fish!" The fish fought violently and it took about 15 seconds until the line snapped. The fish had to be about 8 lbs, and it was silver coloured.
