Capilano River, October 2nd 2013
« on: October 02, 2013, 09:54:09 PM »

Had a quick trip to the Capilano today.  Spent a 15 minutes casing a spoon in my favourite spot for high water, third cast I had a huge hit.  Line peeled out and then a pop, I reeled back in and low and behold my spoon was still there.  I have had this happen in the past and it usually is line from 9/0 treble hooks got tangled with my spoon.  During the fight the line disengages.

Took a drive up to the hatchery and man are there some nice steelhead in the ladders in the viewing area.  There are also some large coho mixed in with the smaller ones.  While I was watching a Spring bullied his way over/through the other fish in the viewing area.  It was intriguing watching the various sized fish make it from rung to rung.  Smallest was 6 inch and biggest the 15+ spring.

Also - Those steelhead are the reason for the bait ban right now!
