Chilliwack River, October 4th 2013
« on: October 04, 2013, 08:19:51 PM »

Headed up after work, on the flow by 4pm, fished above the bridge behind on the way, then down the back side of Lickman, very quiet, lots of old Pinks roaming and frolicking around. No Coho for me tonight, waters shaping up nicely though. Little high for my liking still. Worked the edges and slower slack water with blades and spinners, but no love. Didn't see any Coho taken, will try again Sunday. A nice night on the river is still better than work any day. ;D

i headed up also around 2pm. Got the day off but was feeling under the weather. Fished the canal and did a lot of walking and then fished around on the way store. No coho for me either, just a bunch of pinks, decent or not...didn't want'em.

higher water actually makes for good coho fishing. creates nice back eddy's and slow pools where there wasn't any before. I hit one Friday the fish normally avoid and it was chalk full of coho, springs, a few chrome chum and of course stinky pinkies around the shallows

Tried railway bridge and couldn't get through pinks in the slower water. Landed a spring, but pretty coloured. I was surprised by the change in spring freshness in just one week. Moved down to the ditch in the canal, and nothing looked fishable, so back up to Wilson rd area. Some guys pocket fishing were getting a few on. I hate that type of fishing, so I found some nice pools lower and chucked blades, and roe with nothing but a few snags to show.
Fish were moving through very fast in 1ft of water, and I could not distract them with anything. Ended the day with a shiny pink, not really what I was looking for and I thought it was a coho for a tiny bit there when I saw the silver. Definitely not the banner day that I was expecting.
Lovely day to be out, but like others posted, water was about a foot too high for my honey holes, and colour was a little too murky for my liking. Am I allowed to be this picky?
