Chilliwack River, October 11th & 12th 2013
« on: October 13, 2013, 04:07:50 AM »

Finally was nice to be able to spend a few hours on the Vedder the last few days after working for BC River Day, meetings and away was hunting for 10 days.
Got to the river for the tide on Friday and had good action and first landed a very clean chinook jack that was a strong fish for its size. I kept it as we had had no fresh fish for a while and thought That would be the only one I would catch.

It looked like that would be the only one I could retain as 3 wild coho were then landed, one a nice buck in the 8 pound range,
As it got near dusk the bite really came on but I was having trouble hooking them but finally had a good hook up and I have a coho in the 6 pound range on. As I draw it to the boat I see no adipose on the hen and with some difficulty finally get it in the net. I am using a net as fishing from the Leaf Craft #2.

I am please with the 2 hour outing and being able to take 2 Vedder Canal fish home which we had a piece of each fish last night and of course where very enjoyable while watching the Leaf's win.

Yesterday I tried for a bit in the AM but the tide was wrong so had no action but found a few floats drifting by, cleaned up some garbage and got some rowing action.

Back out for the tide later in the day after some chores at home and on my arrival back out there, promptly missed 3 and lost one.

It slowed down but saw a couple hooked by blade fishers. As it got dark one could see the waves, wake of the moving fish and the bite is on but had trouble hooking them but finally am into a nice coho as soon as one hooks them they thrash on top of the water and throw in a few jumps. It turns out to be my 4th wild in 2 days.

In landing the fish I get a tangle and so I call it a day but the action makes one eager to get back out there which I think I will do at first light before church, stay tuned for another report.

I had tried to but some pictures of the last 2 days on the FVSS FB page but was having trouble doing so. I guess after all these years of being on this site I should learn to do it here. :-[
