Sorry everyone but there will no longer be any brood releases into lower mainland lakes from the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery.  We have moved our broodstock program to the Vancouver Island Trout Hatchery.

Like Rodney said our last scheduled stockings will be tomorrow.

Cheers,

Dean
What lakes are being stocked tomorrow and with how many fish?

Lafarge, Como, Rice and Green Timbers are being stocked, either with 500 or 1,000 fish.

They are in the city though i think its apart of the fishing in the city program or what ever its called.  Lets a lot of people get access to fishing not to far from home. not my idea of fishing but to each their own.

I think a major reason these lakes get so many is because they can support it. Not that they are highly productive or anything, but the fishing pressure is high enough. Most of the coastal lakes are not the greatest for productivity, and you wouldn't want to put too many trout into any one lake.

Its also a strategy to get people into fishing. Not everyone is willing to start fishing when it means driving an hour+, especially if you dont have a car. More people fishing, especially newcomers, means more money for the programs that do these stockings(because license fees pay for this stuff), which in turns means more stockings.
