Is this on the west side? Anybody know of approximately where to start looking for a parking spot on the west side?

Start looking when you reach the river.  Seriously, the entire river is only 3km long, how much more information do you need?  Turn onto the road, look for parking and park when you find a spot to park, then go fish.

Like I said, from the Lougheed to the dam is only 3 km, so you don't want a starting point, you want a parking spot. No matter where you park on the west side you are a ten minute walk from fish. It is not like the east side where you have the lake between the road and the river for the first 2 km. After the first km you can see the river from the road.  Just park and start exploring.  You will find the access points quick enough.

Ok Thanks, That's all I needed, I would assume there are "no parking" signs on the west side? Would waders be a good choice for the west side, I know they are a must for the east. Thank you,

According to Hydro, there is a parking lot just past the dam.

There is a parking lot North of the dam along Wilson st. Its the start of the Railway trail along one side of Hayward lake reservoir.
Waders never hurt, its wet, muddy and you may need to be in shallow water to cast in some spots.
Plus as has been mentioned many times it helps to handle and release fish without beaching them.

X2. Like I had mentioned before, it's better to be wearing them and glad you did, then standing there without them wishing you had brought them. Plus if you have them on and want to escape the people on the beach .... you can.
