Chilliwack River, November 17th 2013: Slide Hole Danger
« on: November 17, 2013, 05:48:14 PM »

I took a walk into the slide hole before first light this morning only to discover that 3 or 4 large cedar trees came down Very recently (over night?) and the largest is just about crossing the entire river.  The canopy is, for the most part, suspending the trunks out of the water for the time being.  Some large snaps and cracks were heard while we were standing on the opposite bank and we decided to try another spot.  These trees are highly unstable and large enough to cross the entire flow.  Avoid fishing downstream of this hazard until the trees stabilize or are swept clear.

Thank you for posting this. It is always a good reminder (especially for newbies) to check upstream and downstream to identify potential hazards.

x2 it is always nice for a fisherman to care enough for the safety of other fishermen to make a post here to remind us of the danger. Thank you for that.

Thanks for the heads up ShaunO, I think it might have been you when my buddy and I arrived to the spot you mentioning as you and your friend were leaving. I kept watching the position of the tree as I was casting and watching my float. Got to a point that wasn't fun doing that all day long so we left shortly after. :D
