My dad watches anything to do with pro wrestling but only the freebies on tv.
Must admit it is not a real sport but entertainment.
Like a bunch of stuntmen/women but who have to verbally act as well.
They have to take the mic & talk it up.

Really it takes a lot of skill.

Not so much interested in WWE wrestling but did like it more in the 80s & 90s.

Did in my younger days watch the likes of classic matches & wrestlers like Gene Kiniski, Lou Theze,Harley Race, Dory Funk Jr., Bruno Sammartino ( wrestling mags at the time ) Don Leo Jonathan 315lbs & at 6'6''was one of the very most strongest & agile pro wrestlers ever born.
Check out his You Tube vid titles something like Abdulla the Butcher vs Don Leo Jonathan.
Other top wrestlers Mark Lewin,Bull Dog Bob Brown,The Kangaroos, The Assasins ,( masked guys ) Whipper Billy Watson, John & Chris Tolos, John Quinn ( the brother of ex NHL player & coach Pat Quinn ) & just so so many more.

As far as wrestling being fake it is true nevertheless there is real pain & ya have to be tough as nails.
Once seen up close in Vancouver this big 300 lb bald head wrestler named The Brute.
He literally jabbed his front teeth into Shawn Reagan's forehead.
Blood came out in spurts flying 4 ft at every heartbeat.
Things do get carried away in the ring & more so in early day wrestling.

Bruno Sammartino filled the buildings in mainly eastern USA WWF areas. 60's /70's
Vince McMann dad was the head promotor back then. Vince as a young guy saw Sammartino in action. He was the World Champion many times. Basically he was top dog for 15 yrs.

Rumour has it he resisted going into WWE 's Hall of Fame. Why ?
Because he wanted big $$$.
He must of got it.
McMann & the WWE have so much $ , that his wife has tried 2 x to get elected as a Republican but lost both times.
She spent $20 million on the last campaign.
$$$ down the drain.

Bruno knew the Hall of Fame would be so incomplete in the history of wrestling without him.
He played his cards right.

Hogan ya say may be on Monday Night wrestling ! Wow that would be something. He's cut ties with the WWE for a long time.
Funny thing back some years ago he was offered to headline the grill.
He turned it down.
So someone else was offered it.
Thus we have the George Foreman Grill. ( famous ex boxer )

Tim Horton is an ex NHL hockey player.
Guess everyone knows that. Tim Horton's is the choice place for coffee for a lot ( not me )

There's a place I get coffee & it's so tasty that my socks go up & down by themselves !

Bruno's son was also a very good wrestler.
Many in the WWE past/ present had dads that were wrestlers.

Wrestling has so so many tragic stories. Many die so young as it is or can be a very stressful job.
A wrestler has to have his head screwed on right so to say. Make right personal choices.

Think the WWE would do better if they had a asian tag team. Guys that used karate & jabs to the throat. Kicks & of course ,throw some salt in the eyes.
One really back guy was Kinji Shabuya.
He'd like bow & smile & next thing suddenly attack!
Then he'd kick bite pull hair give chops on & on.

Plus WWE needs a tag team with masks.
They could put a metal object into the mask ,when ref is distracted , & then headbutt their opponent.
1,2,3. Over. Fans go crazy seeing the illegal move.

That's what it's all about.
Good vs evil.
The more the fans get upset or happy ,the wrestlers have done their job well.

Please do go to You Tube & check out that vid : Don Leo Jonathan vs Abdulla the Butcher.
Also Dory Funk Jr. vs Abdulla the Butcher ( 1975 ) is quite good.

Did like Triple H ,Shawn Michaels & of course the Nature Boy Rick Flair. Think he wrestled for like 35 - 40 yrs.

Had to shovel the driveway, walks & public sidewalk thus missed the majority of last night's wrestling on the boob tube.
Did see Cena in the ring saying something about H Hogan.

Wow that's a great deal for $10 per month.
You have access to endless matches & from various eras.

Did see the part last night about Tony Atlas & Rocky Johnson.
WWE this month is honouring past black wrestlers.
Johnson is the father of The Rock
Dwayne Johnson.
Seen Rocky Johnson wrestle many times here in Vancouver & area.
He liked using head locks ,his drop kicks were perfect, & head butts.

Douglas College where I was a student was once located near New Westminster's Queen Park & Canada Games Pool.
On a break I strolled over to the park & who do I see Rocky Johnson getting out of his car.
He was going to wrestle that night.
For many years the Arenex Building had Friday night wrestling events.
Every Tuesday they would film a hour long show at the Burnaby Global studio which would broadcast every Saturday.
"All Star Wrestling"
Every Monday there were big crowds at the PNE that would take in the wrestling card.
Thru the years seen literally 100s & 100s of wrestlers & a lot of them were headliners in any USA city.
60s & early 70s the wrestling locally was " tops ".
About 1975 or there abouts the wrestling went down hill.
The talent was very sub par.

Well to answer your ? Vancouver All Star wrestlers & connections to WWF / WWE.
Yes for sure. WWF / WWE stars.

Don Leo Jonathan did headline in the WWF vs various stars
Tag team & single matches.
He did wrestle Bruno Samartino.
Andre the Giant had matches vs Don Leo Jonathan ( Vancouver / Montreal / New York on & on )
In Montreal Andre billing name was not the same.
He went by a French name.

Ski Hi Jones ( Jake the Snake dad ) wrestled here in Vancouver as did Jake the Snake Roberts.
He had dif. billing names Ski Hi Jones did.

Roddy Piper ,Rick Martel, Jimmy Super Fly Snuka, John Tena "Earthquake" ( born in Surrey )
Tena got into wrestling because he liked watching Kiniski & Jonathan as a kid on local wrestling.
Dory Funk Jr., Harley Race, The Sheepherders tag team Butch & Luke,Stan Stasiak (WWF Champion)wrestled here as well, his son Shawn wrestled in the WWF. John Tolos wrestled in Vancouver a lot. He headlined in New York WWF & in LA

These are just some.
Bret Hart from Calgary, who was a big headliner in the WWF, but the local promotion Stampede Wrestling had so many great wrestlers, many of whom wrestled in Vancouver. Abdulla the Butcher,Sweet Daddy Siki,Gene Kiniski NWA Champion,on & on.

What's that Canadian wrestler name "escapes me" at the moment. He was on "Dancing with the Stars" & has ( had ) a rock band ?
Anyways he actually wrestled Gene Kiniski in Winnipeg.
Think Kiniski wrestled 4-5 times in a tv taping in one day.
Early 90's & Kiniski is quite old ( he started wrestling in the early or mid 50s )

John Quinn wrestled a lot in Vancouver.
He was billed as the Kentucky Butcher or something like that in the WWF.

Jake the snake has knee cancer I think my cousin told me that in 1997  wwe came live in Vancouver it was televised but he attended that show and Shawn Michaels came
I wonder why we don't have live wwe shows in Vancouver no more ? I've been to 2 they weren't live but still good shows
Hopefully undertakers streak doesn't end

Jake the Snake Roberts is going to be inducted in the Hall of Fame & so too Mr T.
He's of course a famous past actor but was in a Wrestle Mania back in the 80's,as you know I bet.
Undertaker always has a very tough opponents & again this time. Brock L.
This year's event has been creating a lot of interest.
Even though Undertaker is getting older the guy still is in great physical condition & has lots of muscle left.
Think he will kept winning for many more years in the "Big Show"
When he gets near retirement possibly the WWE management will have him lose.
