Howe Sound, March 24th 2014
« on: March 25, 2014, 02:47:33 PM »

Just a quick report for now, full report will be available in our blog section later on. Yesterday we went out with Bon Chovy Fishing Charters from Granville Island for a full day of "seafood safari". We dropped the crab traps, prawn traps and trolled for winter chinook salmon around Howe Sound. The water was a bit choppy at times, but the weather worked out pretty well and we got plenty of sun by the end of the day.

All five chinook salmon caught were undersized so had to be released after DNA samples were collected from them. The day before they were able to get some nice keepers (you can see the pics in this report). We had a good haul from both prawn and crab traps. It was a pretty excellent day without having to travel to far to enjoy some saltwater fishing.

Here are some photos from the trip.

Give Jason at Bon Chovy a call (604-763-5460) if you decide to do this trip. The crabbing and salmon trips are available for 4 or 8 hours, but if you want to include prawning, then 8 hours is needed. Full report to come! :)

Thanks for saltwater fishing report Rodney. Those prawns and crabs looks good. I would love fish salt-chuck but with those little swells or whitecaps makes me nervous. I guess being little older makes me a fair weather fisherman. ;D ;D ;D

Did a shakedown run with the boat this week in Howe Sound. No prawning but fished for a couple hours. Landed one 9 lb beauty, 200 feet of wire out in 200 feet of water on a green spackleback hoochie.

Was damn good on the barby.
