Salmon Lake, May 21st 2014
« on: May 21, 2014, 08:18:45 PM »

We are spending a few days at Salmon Lake Resort at Douglas Lake Ranch. The weather has been pretty good overall. Sunny mostly, calm in the morning and the wind picks up in early afternoon before dying down around dusk. The fishing has been reasonably good, but the bite periods are short and a little irregular. This morning the bite came on at 8:00am and was non-stop, but I was sitting in the cabin enjoying breakfast. By the time I reached the spot at 10:00am, it was almost ending but I managed to catch the tail end of it. 14 to 18 inches are the average size of these Pennask rainbow trout, with the odd ones pushing a bit more.

No fish photos yet, but here are some shots of where we stayed and fished.

Fishing is done from the boat. If you don't have a boat, the resort has rental boats, fully equipped with anchors and motor.

Here's one of the fish from the trip.

The fish jump pretty high. My favourite photo of the trip.

We fished there on the May long weekend as well. Sunday evening after the storm passed we had so many fish to the boat we lost count. These rainbows are amazing little fighters!!
