broken boat trailer axle.ideas?
« on: May 30, 2014, 08:52:12 PM »

My Dad was transporting the boat and the axle broke. He managed to pull it over but it is now stuck on a road in the gulf islands.

Im thinking jack the trailer and repair it but both of us arent the handiest bunch so any ideas from the bright people on this forum would be much appreciated.

Find a princess auto and get a replacement axle.
Call a flat deck tow truck and get it picked up and hauled somewhere to have it repaired or home.
Call someone to come and fix it - but what's broken?

Getting dark - call the tow truck. Don't mess with this at night.

Measure all the info. from axle and hope you can find one.
Installing them is a piece of cake but only if the correct one.

Princess didn't have one for me when I needed it for my very small EZLoader but they do have quite a few and they are very reasonable compared to an axle shop or even the manufacturer.
Princess also have the bolt/shackle kits which may be something worth looking into while your at it.
Make sure you grease the new hubs if needed.

Good luck with however you do it.

Thanks to both of your suggestions.

Princess auto may be the way to go.

Cheers.
