I've booked the next two weeks off for Sockeye fishing and wouldn't mind a fishing partner to help on the boat and with fuel if you go with me from Abbotsford. My kid is working so he can't go out with me in the mornings when I like to fish.

I plan to be launching at Island 22 so meeting on the way is not a problem as long as I'm not waiting for you.

I have a couple extra life jackets/vest to fit you if you don't have one.

I will be bottom bouncing and you would be doing the same but depending where we end up and the amount of fishermen out the bar will dictate whether we fish out of the boat or off the shore.

I like chasing Springs on the boat so if we get that chance as a by-catch while going after Sockeye, then giddy-up, we're going after them. I'm not into spending many hours in the sun trying to catch a Spring - but if the weather and conditions are right, I'm game to spend a little time out there if we move away from the masses of Sockeye fishermen.

I really want to give the Harrison a few tries - with flies or drifting.

I prefer the same fishing partner so that we get to know each others moves on the boat.

Now about you:

No drugs on the boat or in my vehicle - ideally you don't even smoke because I'm not into smelling that crap. If you drink alcohol, that's up to you but I don't drink on a boat or in a vehicle anymore. I prefer you didn't drink either but I'm not going to preach. If you keep your cool and wits about you and not get drunk - we'll get along. If not, you won't come with me again. Its a small 14' boat and I'm too old and slow to be dancing around in a boat or arguing.

You can be a newbie - I'm cool with that. I can teach you lots of bad habits and you will go home with fish.

I prefer you to be sort of average size since I'm pretty heavy - little boat with a little motor and two big guys means slow going.

You need to have your license and you can show me that once at the start - then we're gold.

It would be great if you have experience fishing the Fraser from a boat - it would be even better is you have boat operating experience and a boat operators card so that I can enjoy fishing a Spring in the event I hooked up.

Hopefully you are also a flyfisherman/woman as well as Sockeye season doesn't last forever. You need to have a thick skin and good sense of humour - I like a good time.

You can't be scared to be on a boat and its probably a good idea if at least one of us could swim.  :o

And most important, you have to be able to drop, pull and stow the anchor  ::) - if you can't do that , you are just excess baggage and won't go with me again.

Let me if you're interested by means of pm. I would like to go test out the boat tomorrow.

Yes - I admit, some 30+ years ago, I was not exactly the model citizen. Not proud of that but I don't hide from the mistakes I've made. I can't believe how stupid and reckless we once were. But those days are thankfully long gone and although its no excuse, it was a very different time and attitude out there in the Kootenays.

Regarding me being heavy - ya, I am. If I fall out of the boat on the Fraser, my best be will be to sink and walk to shore. I just hope I head towards the nearest shore.

Thanks to those that have contacted me. I think I've got enough fishing partners lined up now. I hope this works out - sounds like it should.
