Chilliwack River, October 19th 2014
« on: October 19, 2014, 09:52:30 AM »

I was out for 4-5 hours this morning on the lower and only managed a chum. Saw a couple springs and a coho hooked by one of the long liners and a couple guys with coho on the beach. Not much action for sure. Spoke with one guy who said up top was very good fishing and also where all the people were.

Lower end is a little slow due to the higher water so fish are moving through pretty quick. Little seams and small spots of slack water are holding fish. Was there many people out so early in the morning? The time of your post minus the 4-5 hours you were out there has you on the water in the dark of the morning. First light is always the best for coho action. Curious, were most guys using roe?

Weird. This was a post on another thread and now it has its own. I did mean yesterday morning. It was busy but not as bad as I was expecting. I had no trouble walking up to a decent and empty spot at 7:30am. The guy I talked to said it was much busier up top.

I split the topic as you wrote today. I'll merge it back with yesterday's report later this evening.

I went out to the lower canal just after noor for a few hours. I threw beadhead rolled muddlers and a very sparse (sparse to me) coho fly and was rewarded with two coho hook-ups on the strip. first one was a small jack that I was able to pull the hook on for the release. The other was a wild coho about 4lbs that I was able to walk back all the way to the shore behind me only to have it come off by itself. Nice water and not many guys in my area. Very nice outing for me.

I was out today as well above the crossing. Had 4 coho on and one to the beach
Which was a nice male hatch that I retained. All fish hooked on spinners . Left the river by 930.
