Possible good option for a good lake boat.
« on: March 22, 2015, 01:57:51 PM »

Came across the Whaly boat make.
Basically unsinkable ,strong & needs no maintenance. Looks to be quite stable for fishing on lakes.
whaly.com
Also check them out on You Tube.
Various models 210 270 310 370 & a classic model which looks like a dory style.
Never liked plastic boats of the past but possibly the shape of these newer ones make them "fit the bill".
The 270 & a 4 hp would be a great set up on a nice lake.
Like the ones near Hope BC  ;)

They look pretty good.
The only thing I can think of that may be a drawback compared to an inflatable is its portability.  Otherwise it looks great.

"They look pretty good"
Yes I think so too.
Whaly boats.
For more brands in plastic boats check out :
You Tube : Fun Yak video clips Paul Richards
( this vid shows all the models from small to bigger )

Some French dealership has a nice demo with a 50 hp outboard. Interesting.
You Tube: Fun Yak 15 Suzuki villeneuve marine.
Person puts the boat thru some fast paces.

In the past on FWR mentioned about this brand, polycraft.com.au
They have 6 models again from small to bigger.
That 3.00 Tuff Tender has a tri hull on a tiny boat.
Call it a tender but it's rated for a 15 hp.
As one sentence I read " kayak on steroids"
Well it does not look like a kayak at all but point being it sure zips about with a 15 hp.
PNE ride.
Too over powered as a max 5 hp in my thinking.
Think it would be super on calm waters as sure would not want to be in rough PNW waters.
A wave or tug boat wake my guess would flip it.
On vid has 3 guys standing on one side & the small Polycraft Tuff Tender stays stable.
Impressive indeed. :)
Lots of You Tube vids on the various models on these polycraft boats.
Read though you cannot use a roller trailer. Guess a flat trailer with 5 inches of layered carpet & strap the boat down so it does not bounce at all. Not even .5 inches.

Europe Australia & even S America are making plastic boats.

The S American company is called samboats.com
They have various models from small to bigger.
Bigger means even a 50 ft. work tug !!!!!

I prefer an aluminum hull inflatable.  Easy to pack around deflated in the back of the truck box or on top of a van.  The only thing is that it costs more.
