For flossing the size of the hook really doesn't matter. I've flossed them with a #2 with great success while others around me were catching nothing. It's all in where you cast! Save the money and don't go bigger than 2/0

That might be the case for Springs in the Fraser via the "dental techniques", but in the Vedder with short float I think is what would be useful info.  

p.s. 4/0???  Can you really float a gaff hook? :D
You need to see what real river chinook fishing is like if you think a 4/0 is a "gaff" hook. Most river chinook fisheries in BC start at 5/0 and go to 7/0 hooks. Almost nobody uses a hook smaller than 4/0 in the Skeena,Kitamat or Bella Coola systems. Standard leader is 30lb and goes up to 60lb on some river systems. It's only places like the Vedder that anglers use light line and small hooks (less than 20lb leader and smaller than 4/0 hooks) .It's a big province and there are many different fisheries for chinooks that would scare a lot of "Vedder" fishermen.
