Have read reports of people pounding the river for awhile-wondering when the fishery for coho in the salt along the westvan waterfront and ambleside tends to pick up?

Most of the regulars who fish the mouth of the Cap, Ambleside and the West Vancouver shorelines make their own spinners, mostly silver and brass Colorados.

sounds interesting,only tried the mouth a few times in the past,what tide would be prefered for casting into the chuck near the mouth?

Yup, last summer I fished the cap mouth daily and most of the older guys were using homemade spinners and they were very successful.  But bought spinners work well, you just have to find a simple spinner like: colorado spinners or just silver blue fox spinners(expensive).

I caught a coho last year at the cap with a colorado blade. It worked well for me

last year at the cap i cought i pretty big coho at the raillroad bridge.  I lost my last spinner so i went out to look for lost equipment i could find and use i was walking along the mouth when i found a hoochy it was pink and i was expecting to catch a pink on it but first cast i hooked in to a nice size coho mabye around 8 pounds. I never used a hoochy before so i dident know what they were for so i just put it on my line with a split shot waight and i cought that coho.
