Vedder July 17
« on: July 18, 2015, 09:12:08 AM »

Hit the Vedder for the first time this year.  We found are spot at 6 AM and the water was very low (big surprise eh?).  I managed to hook into one nice spring and after a great battle of runs and a couple of leaps, I successfully released the fish (leader failure  :( ).  I estimated the fish to be about 12 - 15 pounds, but can't be sure.  It was a typical spring battle, with the fish first coming in very easily with a few head shakes, then waking up and sprinting upstream, then down.  I managed to hold the fish and it was starting to cooperate when my leader broke!  That's the breaks!  We fished for a few more hours and I briefly had another fish on, but the hook popped out when the fish came out of the water.  Other than that, there was not much action other than working on my suntan.

We really could use some rain, but I fear it's going to be a dry summer!  I'll be exploring other fishing options...   ;) ;) ;)
