I get quite confused when I read about "bar fishing".  Does the "bar" in "bar rig" refer to "river bar" or "spreader bar"?

It's so hard to tell because it seems like everyone fishing on a Fraser bar is using a bottom rig with a spreader bar.

You can use a bar rig setup from the headwaters of the river to the mouth, if you are just chillin watching your rod or waiting for your bell to start ringing, you are bar fishing, I guess it isn't going to work to well in Hells Gate but you get the idea, mainly from Hope downriver on the Fraser. . This technique can actually be used on any water anywhere, downsizing your gear to match the fish you are fishing for. There is a good article on the forum, Bar fishing made simple.
