Stave - parking etc
« on: November 13, 2015, 07:47:22 PM »

OK haven't been to stave for a few years; thought I'd go have a look tomorrow....

WHERE can I park?  Can someone leave (or PM me if you prefer) exact directions on where to park that I won't get towed??

Side note - any reports from the Stave of recent? (again, feel free to PM!)

Thanks in advance!!

Water looked fast coming out of the dam today. Only saw it from the bridge.

Parking is obvious. Look for signs. Although I didn't hear about one tow job this year, and people parked illegally all over the place.

There's limited parking on the east side as they've completely closed off the hydro parking lot.  You'll have to hike in quite a bit, but there'll be less people there than the west side.  Watch out for water coming out of the dam.  With all the rain we've had, and we're getting more, they'll likely be letting more water out...

Its pretty self evident on either side, signs will warn of no parking. Though many of them have been defaced I still avoid those areas.

The East side up Hayward st will leave you a short walk up the road and down the trails to the back water or the bowl etc.

West side, legal parking is low and the river access is a walk up the road but not bad. Expect high water with the rain and big high tide in the late morning.  Not sure how open the dam is..
Not fished there lately as other rivers have my attention after Remembrance day but some late fish will be around just always hard to find in high water esp with the banks under water

I usually park on the west side of 287th across from the trailer park (the first one you come to heading north on 287th off lougheed) then you can walk north about 1.5 km.  there were no parking restrictions at that location last time I was there.  Bring an empty backpack if you plan on keeping any fish as they can get heavy on the walk out...

in order to get into the TB is now a 20 min walk and wading to
they have now blocked off the whole entrance to the park
you have to drop down on the side of the road and walk the shore line
and it is very muddy do not attempt without waders
but when you do get there
not a lot off people very different
we were there Wednesday afternoon and did not see one fish taken
not even a chum it was very slow
I would stick to the west side as for the parking run the odds
just follow the signs and get there very early

Lots of parking today but the water was crazy high and no fish being caught. Feels like the season is over as the numbers in the Albion are way down too. Parking shouldn't be an issue anymore.

I was up there on the west side yesterday morning. It was my first time there so I spent some time exploring the area. Was searching for some cutthroat but got skunked..lol There were lots of dead and spawned out chum but there still a few fresher fish being caught. The water level seemed quite low and visibility was ok (2-2.5 ft.)
